1. About FishComp
FishComp (fishcomp.com and the FishComp app) is a service for logging catches and taking part in fishing competitions. The service is run by Simen Vikdal as a private individual, Lindåsvegen 143, 5916 Isdalstø, Norway. Contact: support@fishcomp.com.
When you create an account or use the service, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, you may not use the service.
2. Account
- You must give your real name and an email address you have access to. Your name is shown in results lists and on your profile.
- You must be at least 13 years old to create your own account. Younger children can take part through a child account that a parent or guardian creates and is responsible for.
- You are responsible for what happens on your account. Keep your password to yourself. If you sign in with Google or Apple, their terms also apply.
- One person, one account. We may merge or close accounts that were created to get around the rules.
3. Catches, photos and content
- You own the photos and texts you add. By adding them, you give FishComp the right to show, store and process them (for example to make smaller versions) for as long as they are in the service, and to show them in results lists, the feed and embedded results pages on organisers’ websites.
- Catches must be real and logged honestly: the right species, length, weight, time and place. In competitions, only photos taken with the camera in the app count when the competition requires it.
- You may not add content that is illegal, offensive or misleading, or that infringes the rights of others (for example other people’s photos).
- We may remove content that breaks these terms.
4. Competitions, organisers and the jury
- Competitions on FishComp are run by the person who created them (the organiser), not by FishComp, unless stated otherwise. The organiser sets the rules, prizes and entry fee, and is responsible for running the competition and providing any prizes as promised.
- The organiser, or a jury the organiser appoints, approves, adjusts or rejects catches under the competition’s rules. The jury’s decision is final within the competition. You can complain through “Report doubt” / “My complaints” in the service.
- While a competition is running, catches waiting for the jury may be shown as “unofficial” in the results lists. Final results include only approved catches.
- Breaking the competition rules may lead to catches being rejected or to you being excluded from the competition.
5. Entry and payment
- Entry fees are paid by card through Stripe. Card details are handled by Stripe, not by FishComp.
- For most competitions the fee goes directly to the organiser’s Stripe account. FishComp charges a platform fee, either a percentage (currently 20%, at least 20 kr) or a fixed amount per entry, which is shown before you pay. Stripe’s card fee is deducted from the organiser’s payout.
- If you pay for several people (for example yourself and your children), it is done as one payment, but each person is entered separately.
- Refunds: The organiser decides on and makes refunds of entry fees, under the competition’s rules. Contact the organiser. FishComp’s platform fee is not refunded when the organiser gives a refund, unless otherwise agreed. If someone cannot be entered because they were already entered another way, we tell the organiser so that the amount can be refunded.
- Organisers who charge fees must have a valid subscription (Pro Organizer) and connect a Stripe account. The subscription renews until you cancel it.
6. Historical results
We may import results from previous years from organisers (for example Havfisker'n 2023–2026). These are shown as historical competitions, with names as the organiser gave them. If you appear in such results, you can ask to have them linked to your account (“Is this you?”). A FishComp administrator approves each link. If you believe you are listed incorrectly, contact support@fishcomp.com.
7. Conduct
You must not:
- cheat, manipulate results or log other people’s catches as your own,
- harass other users or send unwanted messages,
- try to access other people’s accounts or systems you are not allowed to access,
- use automated tools to collect data from the service without an agreement.
8. Suspension and deletion
- We may block or close accounts that break these terms, after a reasonable assessment. In serious cases this may happen without warning.
- You can delete your account at any time under Profile. Results in finished competitions remain, but your name is replaced with “Slettet bruker” (“Deleted user”).
9. Liability
- The service is provided “as is”. We do our best to keep it available and correct, but cannot guarantee that it will always work without errors.
- FishComp is not responsible for organisers’ competitions, prizes or decisions, or for losses caused by the service being unavailable, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
- You fish at your own risk. Follow the fishing regulations, minimum sizes and closed seasons where you fish.
10. Privacy
How we process personal data is described in the privacy policy. It covers, among other things, signing in with Google and Apple, payment with Stripe, email, push notifications and photos.
11. Changes
We may change these terms. For significant changes, we will notify you in the service or by email before they take effect. If you continue to use the service afterwards, the new terms apply.
12. Governing law
Norwegian law applies. Disputes should first be resolved amicably; otherwise Hordaland District Court (Hordaland tingrett) is the agreed venue, unless mandatory consumer rules provide otherwise.
