The doubleline eelpout (Lycodes eudipleurostictus) is one of more than twenty eelpouts found in Norwegian waters. It has a long, eel-like body tapering to the tail, a large head and a continuous fin fringe formed by the dorsal, tail and anal fins, with thick, slimy skin. The scientific name and the English name 'doubleline eelpout' refer to its double lateral line. It reaches about 45 cm. This Arctic cold-water fish lives on the bottom in the Barents Sea, around Svalbard and along the Norwegian coast, at 25–1,200 m. It feeds mainly on crustaceans, but its biology is poorly known. It may turn up as bycatch in shrimp trawls but has no angling interest. Norwegian Red List 2021: Least Concern (LC).
