Source
The landings come from the open dataset «Fangstdata (seddel) koblet med fartøydata» from the Directorate of Fisheries (Fiskeridirektoratet). It is published under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD), which allows reuse when the source is named. FishComp is not affiliated with the Directorate of Fisheries. If our figures and the source differ, the source is right.
Municipality names and map positions come from Kartverket.
How often it is updated
The Directorate of Fisheries updates the dataset every night (except the night before Saturday), and we fetch it early in the morning. The newest landings are usually one or two days old.
What you see here
Every landing from the last 60 days, and totals per month, species, municipality and vessel for 2025–2026. Weights are round weight (the whole fish before gutting) in kilos or tonnes. Species that are recorded as several stocks (for example North-East Arctic cod and coastal cod) are shown as one species.
Why the newest landings have no value
The Directorate of Fisheries publishes the value of a landing 12 months after it was landed, so the newest landings show weight only.
Sales notes and landing notes
Most landings are recorded on a sales note when the fish is sold. When fish is landed without being sold straight away, a landing note is written first. For the very newest data the same catch can for a short while be on both, so a landing can be counted twice until the landing note is updated. This is how the source data works.
Privacy
We show registered vessels and their landings, as in the public vessel register. We do not show the fisher, the owner or the buyer of the catch, even where the source has an ID for them. Landings by people without a registered vessel are only counted in the totals.
Limitations
The source is operational data: it is quality checked, but a landing can still be corrected after it was published, and our figures change with it. Some fields are voluntary and can be empty. Landings abroad or at sea have no Norwegian landing municipality.
